Online Burn Bowl Class June 5th

1. Choose piece of wood
2. Get a fire burning so you have access to hot coals.
3.Place the coal on the piece of wood where you want the bowl to be 
4.Allow the wood to burn and smolder 
5. Be prepare with some water
6. Add more coals as needed
7. Burn the wood until the bowl is the right size for you
8. Pour out the coals
9. Add water to the bowl to make sure it isn’t hot and is fully extinguished
10. Use a tool to scrape the burnt, charred wood of the bowl
11.Rinse the bowl well

Come support Getting Ahead, a workshop serving Comanche Co. residents who are looking to get ahead rather than just get by, with a June prom as Getting Ahead participants will graduate in July after 18 weeks of investigating generational poverty, the hidden rules of class and the community as a group in order to build resources and create their own future story. 

Ages 18+, 80's Community Prom will feature all things totally tubular including an emcee with 80's hits playing long through the night, live music, 80's trivia with prizes, a costume contest which will crown a Prom King and Queen, and a bake sale.

All proceeds are used directly for Comanche County residents living at or below poverty level attending the Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin'-By World workshops. 

Tickets may be purchased on Eventbrite for $23.16 or in person at The Salvation Army for $20.00.

Next to Normal is a 2008 American rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. The story centers around a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that her illness and its management have had on her family. The musical also addresses the issues of grief,  suicide, drug abuse,  ethics in modern psychiatry,  and the underbelly of suburban life.

Opening Ceremony of this National and State recognized celebration will include Mayor remarks, proclamation, musical and oratory presentations and will take place in the Frederick Douglas Professional Development Center, 3:30pm-5pm.

Entertainment, Food, Zip Lines, Horse Rides, Bounce Houses, Games and other activities will take place at the Patterson Center/Douglas Park, 5pm-8pm.
