OSDE Webinar - Workforce Development
Dear members, The Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Oklahoma State Department of Education as they work to help better prepare our students for high skilled, high demand positions in Oklahoma. As part of this initiative, we are working with business leaders, such as yourself, to learn about the growing demands in your area as well as ensuring that our educators have the proper information to better prepare our students. As you may be aware, it is projected that in the year 2025 only 24 percent of Oklahoma jobs will be attainable with only a high school diploma. This is why OSDE and Oklahoma workforce professionals are working together to create ways to prepare our students for the future. Would you be interested in participating in a pilot study for the purpose of sharing your ideas and expertise in creating career pathways for students? Please join us Thursday April 12, from 9-10:30 a.m. to learn about exciting new initiatives and programs available to better prepare our Oklahoma workforce. What is this meeting? Are you curious about ways to connect with your local education leaders to create seamless career pipelines to fill your open positions and retain
local talent? Well you are in luck! During this meeting we will view the first launch of a one-stop interactive learning community platform that will engage students, parents, educators, businesses and the community to create partnership for the purpose of creating seamless career pathways for Oklahoma graduates. OSDE is excited to offer this service but they need your help, be prepared to discuss your thoughts about ways to make this experience better for Oklahoman's. Below are just a few examples of what this platform has to offer. Please join us April 12th to learn how you can help! · Learn more about the Oklahoma EDGE: To learn more about how our community is working to give our students the Oklahoma EDGE, view our welcome video, click here!
· Industry Tours and Interviews: Checkout what Ada High School Graduate, Bartley Estes, is doing to impact our community as a Lidar Manager, Click Here! Additional interviews include high school student from Pryor, OK, through an apprenticeship, now works for Google as an electrician; a radiologist, and more.

· Host a virtual career in the classroom to connect students to industry professionals! The interaction is live with a classroom and a professional and up to 100 classrooms can see the virtual conversation. The industry professional participates from their location and only needs to take 30 minutes out of their day to connect with schools across the state.
· Visit the Career Pathways Community to get the most up to date information related to career/college fair, internship, and scholarship listings located near you!
