2017 Ride to Remember Poker Run

We will be hosting our annual Ride to Remember Poker Run to raise money for the Alzheimer's Assocaiton. We have a fun-filled day planned with several scenic trips around our great surrounding towns.

**Registration on sight at 9:30am will be $30 per hand and $15 for an additional hand.

**Pre-registration will be offered up until May 1st at 3610 SE Huntington Cr., Lawton, OK 73501 during regular business hours Mon.- Fri.


Registration and First Stop will be held at Wind River Harley Davidson
Stop Two: Chisholm Trail Hertiage Center in Duncan, OK
Stop Three: Smokin Joes in Rush Springs, OK
Stop Four: Comanche County Kustomz LLC in Elgin, OK
Stop Five: Park Tavern in Medicine Park, OK...
We hope to have an after party at the stage in Medicine Park to announce winners and maybe have a fun band.

Lunch will be available at Smokin Joes in Rush Springs. We have added in additional time so you can stop and eat with our friends there!

First bike out will be at 10am
Last bike in at 3:00pm

Also, the run is not only for motorcycles! We have opened it to all vehicles! We want everyone that wants to be involved to be there!!!

Whether you are a one person show or a group we want you to audition for SWOK Talent Showcase! Auditions are May 5th at the Lawton Community Theatre from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM and May 6th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM! Leadership Lawton Class 27 would love to see you there, auditions are $30 and all proceeds raised will go to support The Getting Ahead Program presented by the Salvation Army.

AMBUCS is a non-profit service organization consisting of a diverse group of men and women who are dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities and are proud to announce their 4th Annual Mudder’s Day Run on May 13, 2017. 

Participants will have to run, crawl and climb their way through our course and battle a little mud along the way.

The 5th Annual Paws For a Cause is a fun community event for pets and their owners of all ages. Each year hundreds of people and their pets attend to participate in contests, adopt a new friend, win free door prizes - including spays and neuters - and gain valuable information from local rescues, veterinariams, groomers, and other pet-related busineses and organizations. New this year: a pet costume contest and weiner dog races!

3-D Printing Class

As part of a McMahon Foundation Grant provided to the library, two Lulzbot TAZ 6 3D printers have been purchased for public use The Lawton Public Library will be hosting a 3D printing class to introduce individuals to the basics of 3D printing at the library.

Individuals will learn about the library’s policies regarding 3D printing, discover and download 3D projects from the internet, prepare a project for printing using Cura, and place an order for a 3D print at the library. Staff will share ideas and completed 3D printing projects in order to inspire people to create projects of their own. Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on experience with Cura at the end of the class.

The class will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, in meeting room 2, at the Library, 110 SW 4th Street. Ages 12 and up are welcome to attend.

In addition to the two 3D printers, the McMahon Foundation Grant also provided 20 new computers with software for the library computer lab and Professional Development Center, and a network upgrade which provides increased internet speed and additional wifi access points throughout the library.

4th Annual Wheels for Warriors Benefit for Lawton ASYMCA

 

Fourth Annual Wheels for Warriors (W4W4) Armed Forces Day 2017

 

Lawton/Ft Sill, OK – The Combat Vets Motorcycle Association Oklahoma Chapter 10-3, a, nonprofit organization devoted to “Vets Helping Vets” will be hosting the 4th Annual Wheels for Warriors Rally on May 20th, 2017 (Armed Forces Day) at Wind River Harley Davidson. 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Lawton Armed Services YMCA.

Events:

 

Poker Run- Registration begins at 11 a.m. with the first bike/vehicle out at 12 p.m. The route will be approximately 100 miles long and runs throughout SW Oklahoma. There will be a five card draw as a mystery hand. High hand wins $1,000! Low hand gets a mystery prize. At 5 p.m. the last poker hand will be accepted at Wind River HD. Pre-registration cost for rider/driver is $15, day of event registration will be $20 for rider/driver, and passenger registration is $10. Extra hands will be $10 each.

Scavenger Hunt- Registration begins at 11am with the first bike/vehicle out at 12pm. There will be 25 points that vary in point value. You must present a picture of your ride, or you, with the location to get credit. Highest number of points will win $200 plus a mystery gift. Registration for the Scavenger Hunt is $10 a person.

Bike Show- Trophies will be awarded for three surprise categories, as well as a Commanders choice award. This is NOT your typical bike show. You need not be present to win. You do not have to leave your bike at Wind River. You may bring it in, register it for the bike show, and get it judged immediately. Registration for Bike Show is $5 a vehicle.  

The 4th Annual Wheels for Warriors Poker Run is open to everyone. There will be food, drinks, various venders/concession, a live band and adult beverages. So come out and participate with us or just come out and have fun.

Poker run will be conducted rain or shine (someone will be leaving $1000 richer).

The 2017 Armed Forces Day Music Festival and Red Dirt BBQ will include nearly 12 hours of live music from various artists. There will be a BBQ competition with BBQ for purchase. The fourth annual Armed Forces Day Car Show hosted by Nokturnal Car Club. Numerous food, merchandise and information vendors. There will be military vehicles on display for the public to get up close and personal with! There will also be all sorts of entertainment for all ages, especially children! This includes bounce houses, hands on activities, a zip line and much, much more! The entire days events are free to the public! The only thing guests will need to buy is food and drinks! And our special guest, Tom Smith from Misfit Garage and his friends will be in the park all day hanging out with everyone!
