9th annual Rock Island Arts Festival, an event of the CAAC

The Rock Island Arts Festival is a multi-faceted, family-friendly arts event organized and facilitated by the Chickasha Area Arts Council (CAAC) each year since 2009.

A variety of activities and entertainment for all ages will be found at the Festival, including art classes for children in the Depot. A variety of Vendors will be located in tents throughout the grounds in the Train Depot area.  

Musicians and performers will be entertaining on one of the two stages while others will be strolling the grounds bringing their music to the people.

Application forms are available at www.rockislandartsfestival.org for (1) Musicians and Performers who would like to entertain on one of the two stages at the Festival and for (2) Vendors, including Artisans, Crafters, Businesses, Food Trucks, Organizations and Wineries.  

Vendor applications with fees are to be postmarked OR delivered to 1301 S. 7th (front door mail slot) by Thurs., Aug. 31.  All late entries are required to pay a $10 late fee.  No refunds are made after Sept. 1, 2017.  

Mail completed applications and vendor fees to CAAC/RIAF, PO Box 505, Chickasha, OK  73023.

The Chickasha Area Arts Council is a local 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization.  Contributions to the CAAC and RIAF may be tax-deductible.

The Junior Social Workers of Chickasha 52nd Annual Spaghetti Day will be held on October 6, 2017 at the Grady County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $8 for adults in advance, or $9 at the door. Childrens tickets are $4 for ages ten and under. TIckets may be used for lunch (11am - 2PM) or dinner (5pm - 7:30pm). Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Junior Social Worker.

Flaming Hope, LLC is hosting the first annual Buckles, Bits & Boots western wear, decor, tack and more expo in conjunction with Pro Rodeo Oklahoma's WPRA and PRCA professional rodeo event. Please come out and shop at our vendor booths and visit Pro Rodeo Oklahoma's pre-rodeo party tent for music, food, fun, cash bar, dancing and of course watch the WPRA and PRCA professional rodeo and barrel race. (Rodeo and barrel race start at 7:00 pm.) 

Profits from the Buckles, Bits and Boots expo support Flames to Hope miniature therapy horses. Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series: Presidio Brass

To kick-off USAO Homecoming weekend, Presido Brass, a combination brass quintet from San Diego, Calif., will perform Sounds of the Cinema. Alumni, students of all ages, parents, and our friends will enjoy some of the finest jazz, classical and original compositions written specifically for the movies. These five young men will present film music with a good dose of wit and humor that together have become hallmarks of every Presidio Brass performance. Audiences and music critics agree, Sounds of the Cinema is “Two Thumbs Up” and a “Must See!”

Since forming in 2006, Presidio Brass has rocketed to success as the face of a bold new generation in brass entertainment. By combining a brass quintet, piano and percussion instruments with fresh, original arrangements, their unique sound has become a trademark for the ensemble, captivating audiences everywhere.

Give your Valentine a ticket to join you for The Gentlemen of Hip Hop by FLY Dance Company. FLY Dance Company takes off on the concert stage with a unique combination of entertainment and art. Since the 1990s, this professional troupe has performed original choreography to pop, classical, jazz and Latin music from the 18th through 21st centuries (including Stravinsky, Nat King Cole, Vivaldi, Michael Jackson, Three Dog Night and others). ArtScope and ArtScope STUDIO 2018

 

ArtScope, an activity of the Chickasha Area Arts Council (CAAC), is a two-week, summer arts day camp for children, ages 8 to 12. Campers will study ‘The Arts’ through drawing, painting, sculpting, theatre, dance, and music experiences, as well as learn from special presentations by guest artists. 

 

ArtScope STUDIO, is designed specifically for 13-18 year old students. Participants will be involved in an in-depth three-hour Visual Arts study for the two weeks of ArtScope.  

An ArtScope and STUDIO Showcase will be held on the final day of camp to display the students' visual artworks and  to have performances in music and dance as well as a theatrical production.

Some scholarships may be available for those who qualify.
