Sampler Camp 2017 - Session 1

Sampler Camp 2017 - Session 1
Each summer, the Mississippi Craft Center hosts multiple sessions of Creative Craft Camp to introduce children to the joy of making things with their hands. Expert members of the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi immerse your child into a fun, creative, and hands-on experience, teaching them the techniques and history of their craft through creating one-of-a-kind pieces of art to take home and cherish for years to come.

Ages 5-9: Sampler Camps
Being young is all about exploration. At this age, children are exploring their interests in the clothes they wear, the foods they eat, and the shows they watch on TV.  As any parent can tell you, one day their child may be on their way to becoming an astronaut and the next day a painter.

With our Sampler Camps, your child is free to explore his or her artistic side with the help of some of the Guild's fine craftsmen. Campers spend five days creating wonderful crafts spanning our vast array of mediums all under the instruction of a specialized craftsman, diving into different mediums each day.

On the final day of camp, we give your child the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the star of their very own art...  More >>

Gatsby-Seer Sucker Roaring Twenties Dinner Party

Gatsby-Seer Sucker Roaring Twenties Dinner Party
Model T Fords, The Charleston and Speakeasies – the decade-long party known as the “Roaring Twenties” was “a moveable feast” of decadence and affluence, when Champagne flowed freely and elegant parties were daily affairs. By the early '20s, seersucker suits had made their way from the Deep South to the fashion lines of New York clothiers, adding to the fervor! Seafood R’evolution is taking this decadence to a new level with a Gatsby-Seersucker Roaring Twenties Dinner Party on Tuesday, July 25th.
The cocktail party – featuring The Aviation Cocktail and Old Tom Collins – will begin at 6 p.m. Cocktail hors d’oeuvres include 1920s favorites such as stuffed mushrooms, salmon mousse on crostini, deviled eggs and rabbit confit on Wonder Bread – yep, sliced bread was invented in the '20s and Wonder Bread was among the first on grocers’ shelves.
“Our goal is not to have just a wine dinner; our mission is to take guests on a culinary journey into the past,” said Chef John Folse, managing partner of Seafood R’evolution. “Sure, we serve a fabulous meal, but every course has a story, every drink fits a theme, every conversation relates back to this decadent period of history.”
