Last season, the plan that Dayton Moore, Royals GM put into place came to fruition as the Royals won their first World Championship in 30 years, besting the New York Mets in five games. The Royals became just the fourth team to reach the World Series in back-to-back seasons since 2000, after coming up just short of a title in 2014.
