OUR TOWN Art Show and Sale

The 32nd  Annual OUR TOWN Art Show and Sale will take place October 19-22, at The Community House, 380 South Bates Street, Birmingham. The juried, all media art show provides a forum for Michigan artists to display and sell their work.

This year’s event will showcase 357 pieces of artwork from 142 Michigan artists. The art exhibition includes paintings, pastels, sculptures, glassworks, fiber works, photography, jewelry and mixed media. Thirty-five percent of the proceeds from the art sales will be used to fund The Community House children’s and adult’s programs and services.

“Caroline and I are honored and excited to be the Chairs of the 2017 OUR TOWN Art Show and Sale. The Community House is home to many charities, adult workshops and children’s classes.  It provides the perfect venue to showcase our artists (both local and statewide) with quality, juried artwork that is displayed professionally for our cultured community to experience. OUR TOWN is celebrating 32 years of art and photography at The Community House and we invite everyone to come and spend some time with the art and artists of our beloved area. It's ‘Our Kind of Town!’ said Robert Dempster, Co-Chair of the OUR TOWN Art Show and Sale.

OUR TOWN kicks off with an Opening Night Party, 6-9 p.m. Thursday October 19. The evening includes artists’ recognition reception, strolling hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, live entertainment, and the first opportunity to preview and purchase art. In addition, this year’s event will feature a silent auction and luxury raffle with mobile bidding. Friend tickets, with admission at 6:00 p.m., are $75. Benefactor tickets, with admission at 5:30 p.m. start at $250.

Following the Opening Night Party, the Show will be open to the public, free of charge from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21; 10 a.m.–noon on Sunday, October, 22.

The 2017 OUR TOWN Art Show and Sale Co-Chairs are Caroline Rooney-Dempster and Robert Dempster. Benefactor Co-Chairs are Carla Grava and Pamela Rossiter. The Show was juried by Barbara Heller and Weatherly Stroh.

The event is presented by The DeRoy Testamentary Foundation. Other sponsors include The Michigan Design Center, Armina Interiors, Detroit Home Magazine and 90.9 WRCJ.
