Birmingham First along with Versiti, (Michigan Blood) a non-profit organization, will be hosting a blood drive on October 6 from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Birmingham First church.
Versiti reporst that since the
start of the Covid-19 pandemic, nearly 3,000 drives have been cancelled,
amounting to over 60,000 units lost. In addition to the cancellation of blood
drives, stay-at-home orders have contributed to a drop in donation appointments.
And now, hospitals, which initially canceled procedures, have ramped up patient
care quickly, including elective surgeries and trauma cases continue to rise. Therefore,
the need for blood has greatly increased.
We need your help. Now, more than
ever, community members must come together to ensure the health and well-being
of our neighbors, family and friends.
Registration is now open for the October
6th blood drive.
