Halloween Happening

Halloween Happening
 Halloween Happening is the biggest Halloween event on the Eastern Shore. The event provides Halloween themed activities for children 10 and under who may not want to participate in the scarier parts of a Halloween event. The event runs on Saturday, October 13th and on the following Saturday, October 20th from 1pm-4pm. Children will be able to” Trick or Treat” throughout the Zoo, participate in Halloween games, educated about animals, go thru a hay bale maze and compete in a costume contest! ASL Level 2 Classes

If you have already taken ASL Level 1 or has experience but want to brush up then register for DILA’s American Sign Language Level II, five week course, taught twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 30 through December 4, 2018 from 6-8pm at DILA, 806 Snow Hill Rd, Salisbury, MD. No class on Thanksgiving. ASL II is a continuation of ASL I.  Students continue to learn to understand ASL as well as add to their knowledge of ASL vocabulary, language, comprehension, grammar and Deaf Culture.  Cost is $150 if you have the textbook/DVD, Signing Naturally I (used in 2 levels of ASL). If you need the textbook/DVD then cost is $225. 10 Mile Tipoff
The 10 Mile Tipoff: Salisbury University vs. University of Maryland Eastern Shore will take place Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

The event will showcase a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader benefiting a scholarship fund for the new Wicomico Youth Basketball League. The women’s game will start at 6 p.m. with the men following at 8 p.m.

A free workshop for caregivers, “The Joy of Creative Engagement,” will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging.normal">The workshop will be presented by Ilyana Kadushin, founder of Stories Love Music Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides programs for senior citizens with memory loss, and their caregivers. This workshop is intended for the caregivers of those age 65 and older, who have Alzheimer’s and dementia, in addition to elder care health professionals. Sessions will focus on how caregivers can treat their burnout and stress, as well as creative tools to apply to caregiving. Lunch will be provided. Turkey Trek 5K

Turkey Trek 5K
Before you gear up for your big Thanksgiving feast, come run the Turkey Trek 5K along Pemberton Historical Park's beautiful nature trails in Salisbury, Maryland. The race winds through Pemberton Park's forests, meadows and wetlands. Refreshments and holiday pie will be available after the race (it is Thanksgiving after all)!

All proceeds from the race go toward Pemberton Nature Camp and other environmental education programs. Thank you for your support of the Park!
