The Ward Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2018.  Established in 1968 to honor the legacy of Lem and Steve Ward, the foundation has grown to be a leader in the arts and cultural community of Maryland and beyond.  This Welcome gallery exhibit will showcase on the history of the foundation, its leaders and its impact in the community and beyond.

Zoo Stampede 5K Run/Walk

Zoo Stampede 5K Run/Walk
 

The Salisbury Zoo will host Zoo Stampede sponsored by VP Shoes on Saturday, April 21 at 9am. The run/walk starts at the Zoo’s east gate and runs thru the City Park and its wooded trails. This race is catered to all runners and walkers and is fun for the whole family! After the race VP Shoes and the Zoo will give away random prizes to race participants. Prizes will be given to the top finishers in every age category. A Free race tech shirt will be given to the first 150 participants. Age categories start at 12 and under and go up to 70 and above.

   Participants can pre-register for $20.00 at VP Shoes or at the Salisbury Zoo. Participants may also register on the day of the race for $25.00 between 7:30 A.M and 8:30 A.M. at the Zoo’s East Gate (opposite Ben’s Red Swings).   The Salisbury Zoo will hold its annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The event is free to the public! The goal of this event is to promote environmental awareness and how we can be good stewards to the earth. Bring in your old electronics to the Zoo parking lot for recycling. Along with the exhibitors there will be other Earth Day activities during the event which include: zookeeper talks, recycled craft activities, face painting, and animal meet and greets.

Join MAC, Inc., for Law Day on Tuesday, May 1, and talk to an attorney – for free. The Wicomico County Bar Association and Maryland Legal Aid will provide attorneys to assist seniors in completing advance medical directives, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging. The attorneys also will provide consumer financial information and tips on how to avoid common consumer scams, and will be available to discuss other consumer law issues. Bras for a Cause
Decorate a themed bra (special theme this year is “Super Heroes”), title it, and submit it!  Gather your friends, family, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, fellow club members to make it a team effort… Or just go it alone. Every year this fun competition helps Women Supporting Women (WSW), the Shore’s only local non-profit breast cancer support organization. (Maximum of two entries per team or individual, please.)

ASL Level 2 Classes

 Five week course in ASL Level 2 continues to build on Deaf Culture, grammer, vocabulary and compresention that was taught in ASL Level 1.  Students will be able to have a more in depth understanding of American Sign Language. Classes held every Tuesday and Thursday between 5/15 - 6/14/18 at DILA. Prerequisite is must have taken ASL 1 or permission of the the instructor.  Cost is $150 using Signing Naturally I textbook.  If textbook is needed then cost will be $225.  Registion ends May 14, 2018. Medicare-eligible State of Maryland retirees will no longer receive prescription drug coverage under the Maryland State health plan, effective Jan. 1, 2019, the Maryland Department of Budget and Management, Employee Benefits Division, has announced. These Medicare-eligible Maryland State retirees have until Dec. 31, 2018 to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan for prescription drugs, at their cost, to ensure there is no gap in their coverage. Choosing a new drug plan, and navigating the Medicare maze, can be confusing. MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging, is ready to help.  A Medicare information session will be held Wednesday, May 16, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Willards Senior Center.
