The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its first ever Craft Beer Tasting in partnership with Shorecraft Beer, and sponsored by Salisbury University Downtown Art Galleries. February has been deemed “Febrewary, Craft Beers Lovers Month” locally and around Delmarva and this tasting will celebrate craft brewing as a key economic driver for Maryland.

The event will feature thirteen breweries, offering unlimited tastings.
Heavy gourmet hors d’oeuvres by Chef Toby Gilbert of Gilbert's Provisions included in the ticket price!
Menu includes:
Local Farm Deviled Eggs with Old Bay and Paddlefish Caviar-
Mini Pilsner Beer-guettes with Prosciutto, Gruyere and Aioli
Confit Chicken Wings with Hopped Hot Sauce and Malted Crema
Pennsylvania Rabbit Rillete with Golden raisin and Hefeweizen on Barley Crackers with Sultana Jelly
Porter Beer and Cheddar and Gruyere Cheese Dip with Pretzel Crackers. It will be held at the Salisbury University Downtown Art Gallery, at 212 W. General Membership Luncheon

Join us March 15 at 12 p.m. during our General Membership Luncheon featuring speaker, retiring UMES President Dr. Juliette Bell.

Bell is the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s 15th leader since its founding in 1886, and the fourth woman to hold the post. Bell is a biochemist who grew up in rural Alabama 50 miles east of Birmingham, the state’s largest city.

She graduated valedictorian of her class, earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Talladega (Ala.) College. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry with a biochemistry concentration from Atlanta University and did postdoctoral work in biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Following her post-doctoral fellowship, she worked as a senior staff fellow and research biologist at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Bell made full professor at Fayetteville State in 1998, directed its Biomedical Research Program (1993-2006) and established the Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (2002-2006) program. She was founding dean of the university’s College of Basic and Applied Sciences from 2004 to 2006 and provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs from 2006-2008.

SACC Spring Soiree

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will host its first annual "Spring Soiree" sponsored by Shore Distributors, March 29 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art. The event will be a festive gathering featuring the talents of the Career Technology Education and Wicomico County students. Educational program demonstrations included will be Horticulture, Culinary Arts, the Teacher Academy of Maryland, Collision Repair, Business, Management, Finance Skills U.S.A, CTE Administration, Special Education Support, Counseling, Cosmetology, Welding, H.V.A.C., Nursing Assistance, and Computer Repair. The Culinary Arts students will provide a menu to include Maryland style crab dip, cold spiced steamed shrimp cocktail, sliced French bread points, mini jerk chicken Caesar salads, roasted and raw vegetable crudités with assorted dips, international cheeses and fruit display, roasted top round of beef—hand with various condiments, assorted hand twisted rolls and biscuits, cheese tortellini alfredo and bow tie pasta marinara, a pastry table, and a fruited punch fountain. This event is an unparalleled opportunity to highlight the truly incredible abilities of the county’s students. There will be complimentary cocktails and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
