Girl Scouts Woodworker Badge

Girl Scout Cadette

Where better to learn about woodworking then at the Ward Museum? You will practice hammering, leveling, and drilling as you build a picture frame. You will then learn about and become familiar with woodworking techniques, especially as they relate to carving decoys, when you complete a basic carving project using a Dremel hand tool. $14 per girl, includes patch.

Santa Social at St. Francis de Sales

St. Francis de Sales School invites community friends to come to its annual Santa Social event, Sunday, December 11, 2016, held in the Philip and Barbara Long Parish Center. 
Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast, visit with Santa for photos, and a vendor bazaar. There will also be kids crafts and a kids shopping area, so they can buy presents to give family and friends. 
The event goes from 8:30am to 1pm. 
Breakfast is just $6, and $4 for kids under 12. Proceeds benefit St. Francis de Sales Catholic School. Pictures with Santa are free with purchase of the pancake breakfast.
The public is invited to attend. Come join us for the festivities!

Participants will enjoy a morning and afternoon session with local watercolor artist Keith Whitelock, who will demonstrate and teach as the class follows along. American Sign Language Level I 6 Wk Course

Want to learn American Sign Language, (ASL) or know someone who does?  Then register for DILA’s American Sign Language Level I, six week course, taught twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 24 through March 2, 2017 from 6-8pm. Students will learn to carry on an everyday conversation with deaf individuals.  Role playing and games designed to teach basic signs are used as tools. By the end of the class, a sampling of the skills you will learn are: Manual Alphabet, numbers, introducing yourself, talking about family, discussing the home, office and more. Cost is $225 and includes textbook/DVD, Signing Naturally I (used in 3 levels of ASL). If you already have the textbook/DVD then cost is $150.
