Plymouth Philharmonic Concert: Let's Paint the Town Silver

Plymouth Philharmonic Concert: Let's Paint the Town Silver
Peter Boyer's exuberant Silver Fanfare with its regal pronouncement, sets a glittery tone for this very special opening night as Steven Karidoyanes begins his 25th year as conductor of the Phil! Add some blue, or rather blues, with William Grant Still's jazzy, popular Symphony No. 1, the first symphony composed by an African American to be performed by a major orchestra. Hues of emotions reflect across its four movements: longing for love, sorrowing in life, celebrating freedom, and glorifying righteousness. Our blue(sy) palette overflows with Leonard Bernstein's boisterous Overture to the Broadway musical, Wonderful Town and George Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F. Pianist Michael Chertock joins the Phil for this lively piece that Gershwin describes as having the Charleston rhythm, American blues, and energetic ragtime!
Start your evening early at the pre-concert cocktail party at 6 PM and All About the Music pre-concert talk at 6:30 PM. Don't miss this very special opening night to the 103rd season of the Phil!

Cranberry Harvest Celebration

Join us Columbus weekend and help us CELEBRATE a New England tradition and see the beauty of the cranberry harvest during our old-fashioned family festival!  This year's Celebration will be held on October 6 & 7, 2018.

The Cranberry Harvest Celebration is a great way to see and learn about the picturesque cranberry harvest while enjoying some old fashioned family fun. Watch as we harvest the crimson berries continuously each day. Visit educational and historical displays, view the spectacular landscape and harvest by taking a helicopter ride, enjoy live cooking demonstrations by some of the area’s finest chefs and culinary professionals, shop the marketplace with over 40 juried exhibitors from around the region, listen to local musicians, and peruse the farmers' market and food concession areas for the best fare around.  Returning this year, you can put on a pair of waders and stand in a bog full of cranberries!  Children’s activities include pony, paddle boat, train, live entertainment, wagon rides and much more.

Visitors to the Harvest Celebration, which is co-sponsored by the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers’ and Ocean Spray, are treated to demonstrations of the wet cranberry harvest, cooking demonstrations, an enormous tent full of juried crafters, paddleboat rides on scenic Tihonet Pond, food vendors, music, and more.

Admission is $10, $5 for seniors and military, and children under 7 are admitted free.  Admission includes continuous viewing of our wet harvest operations, animal demonstrations, live music, cooking demonstrations, and many children’s activities.  Some activities have fees and others are available by donation to the non-profit organizations that offer them. A portion of the admission fees go to local nonprofit organizations that help staff the event and to local food pantries. Parking and shuttle transportation are free.
