Plymouth Pan-Mass Challenge Kids Ride
On June 24, 2018, Plymouth will hold its 6th annual Plymouth Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) Kids Ride to raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The Pan-Mass Challenge is an annual bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. The PMC has given over $599 million since its inception in 1980. The PMC Kids Ride program now includes over 35 towns, has raised over $7.2 million, and is a fantastic way for children to participate in philanthropy, physical activity and the camaraderie of working towards a great goal – fighting cancer.
The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to Dana-Farber.
As in the past three years, we will be holding our Ride amongst the shady pines of Charge Pond in the DCR Myles Standish State Forest. Riders can circumnavigate the pond, featuring a 1.1 mile paved road with a few gently rolling hills. Go around once or as many times as you can during the ride hour. We also have a dedicated, off-road tyke loop for our littlest riders.
Building on the success of last year's Long Loop, we are once again introducing a new opportunity for our seasoned riders! This year, we're offering a 5+ mile route, utilizing mostly bike paths throughout the Charge and Fearing Pond areas. It will be led by a dedicated group of adult riders.
Commemorate your ride with a party at the finish line with music provided by 105.7 WROR, visits from the New England Revolution, Gobbles of the Plymouth Pilgrims, and games, food, arts and crafts, and fantastic raffle items! We're still working on the guest list, so follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PMCKidsPlymouth/ to hear the latest news! Lastly, we will have a short ceremony recognizing our riders who have participated for 5 years!
As if all that wasn't enough, every registered rider is automatically entered for a chance to win a new bike!
Adults and teens 14+, can you help? Click on Register to Volunteer at right to lend a hand.
