February Vacation Programs

11:00 A.M. ~ LITTLE FLIPPERS CLUB: Join us for a marine animal-themed story time and craft project! Different themes every day (see right). All ages welcome; most suitable for children ages 3-8. Children must be supervised. Program lasts 45-60 minutes.

COST: Members $3/child/program; Non-members $5/child/program.

12:00 P.M. ~ PATIENT UPDATE: Learn the stories of the marine animal patients currently in our care from a member of our Animal Care Team. View our sea turtles via live TV and meet our small turtles in person. Program lasts approximately 15-20 minutes. FREE.

1:00 P.M. ~ MARINE ANIMAL MEDICAL MYSTERY: What does it take to be a marine animal care technician? What are some of the questions and “mysteries” involved in wildlife rehabilitation? Each day we'll learn how to care for a different animal. Best suited for ages 8-14. Space is limited to 15 children. Please reserve your spot by calling (508) 743-9888 at least 24 hours in advance. Program lasts approximately 60 minutes

COST: Members $3/child/program; Non-members $5/child/program.

3:00 P.M. ~ PONDERING PREDATORS AND PREY: INTERACTIONS AND ADAPTATIONS: The ocean is home to a large number of fascinating creatures. Learn about the marine food web and interactions among ocean animals, as well as specialized adaptations these critters have to survive.

Program will be offered Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons only

COST: Members $3/child/program; Non-members $5/child/program.

For the Love of Turtles

Join us for our February Open House! Explore the Discovery Center, make a marine animal valentine, and enjoy games and refreshments. Meet local student, artist, and sea turtle conservationist Marissa F and observe a special demonstration of screen printing sea turtle art on t-shirts. Tour our marine animal hospital and meet our 36 turtle patients. Education programs during the Open House are included with admission. Cost: $5/person, members FREE.

Join us for this fantastic Sunday School Wine Seminar featuring Driftwood Publick House & Oysteria.

This Sunday School Wine Seminar will feature wines from Italy, a beautifully rustic menu from Driftwood Publick House & Oysteria. Niall McCallum a fan favorite here at Pioppi’s will be taking us on our journey though Italy via glass with a formal tasting and food pairing explanation.

Our Sunday School classes begin in February and sell out quickly! Now in our 13th year, we continue to receive early requests and reservations for our growing seminar program. The best testament to our fun and informative wine classes is the fact that we sell out quickly, and our customers are eager to return every year. Our classes offer a variety of themes (regions, vineyards, varietals), and provide first-rate, wine knowledgeable speakers as well as amazing tasting menus from local restaurants. All classes are held at Pioppi’s Package Store from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. includes a fabulous tasting menu paired with a sampling of wines.

Public speaking is a skill that is used frequently in our lives. Yet many people lack confidence in their verbal communications. If you would like some help, consider joining Toastmasters International, an international nonprofit organization that helps people develop their communication and leadership skills. James Auctioneers & Appraisers is pleased to offer a selection of heirloom quilts from the estate of the late Dorothy "Dottie" Krueger of Plymouth, Massachusetts.  Dottie was a gifted quilt designer, lecturer and past president of the New England Quilter's Guild.  She owned and operated "Sew Crazy" in Plymouth, Massachusetts for 28-years. She gathered her collection of heritage quilts along the road as she traveled the country, lecturing and promoting her own line of patterns, "Praise Publications."
