Live Herb Wreath Workshop
Garden herbs played an important part in an English country housewife’s cooking and healing. Join Plimoth Plantation’s horticulturists to learn about the 17th-century and modern uses of herbs that grow in the gardens of the 17th-Century English Village. Adult Education Workshop: “Backyard Barnyard (Chickens)”
Have you been considering backyard chicken-keeping as a new way to keep your food local? Backyard chicken-keeping in New England dates all the way back to the 1620s, and while some things have changed since then, others are very much the same. In this two-part workshop, you’ll learn all about the realities of keeping chickens in your backyard, whether for eggs, meat, or both. All the basics will be covered – how to choose, obtain, house, and protect your new feathered friends. Important considerations like zoning laws, predator prevention, and flock health will be included, too! If you’ve thought about backyard chickens before but want more information before you take the plunge, join us for this fun and plucky class.

Recreate a meal full of dishes familiar to the Pilgrims by using period tools and techniques in a 1620s setting. Perfect your techniques for frying, boiling, roasting, and baking, and end the day with a round table discussion about period food and the significance of the hearth to modern and historic communities.

2nd Annual #I{Craft}History Festival
How do YOU craft history?
Two-day event celebrates craft with artisans, exhibits, music, food, and festivities!
Plimoth Plantation's two-day #i{craft}history festival features the best of New England craft, old and new. Stroll through the artisan market in the Henry Hornblower II Visitor Center courtyard and find that one-of-a-kind item hand-crafted by our featured artisans. Visit with the guest makers, inspired by Plimoth Plantation's time and place, as they demonstrate their unique interpretations of traditional 17th-century English and Native crafts.
At the heart of the event are Plimoth Plantation’s core of talented artisans. Their work is vital to the recreation of the authentic look and feel of the 17th-century worlds of Plimoth and Wampanoag Patuxet. Native artisans make stone, wood and sinew tools, porcupine hair headdresses and hand-coiled clay pots. Other Plimoth Plantation artisans practice historical English trades, and reproduce the objects that the Pilgrims imported from England, such as earthenware pottery, furniture, candles and textiles.
