Experience one of Bakersfield’s hidden gems right in the heart of downtown Bakersfield at the Bakersfield Young Professionals’ Arts and Culture event on Thursday, June 16.
As the southern San Joaquin Valley’s only American Association of Museums-accredited art museum, the Bakersfield Museum of Art has brought a wealth of exposure to California art and artists though its exhibitions, educational programs and special events for 60 years. Its latest exhibits will allow you to see a new side of the community’s art scene, while enjoying live music, fine wine, craft beers and delicious food.
One exhibit features the work of renowned local photographer Felix Adamo. “Bakersfield to Bakersfield: 2 Wheels, 23 Days, 6,542 Miles” documents a cross-country motorcycle trip Adamo made with two friends. The 23-day journey took the trio to every Bakersfield in America - from Bakersfield, Calif., to Bakersfield, Vt., with stops in Bakersfield, Texas, and Bakersfield, Mo. - to find out each community’s differences and similarities.
