The next Good Morning Bakersfield breakfast will explore workforce development. Building a strong workforce starts in our schools, and Dr. Bryon Schaefer, superintendent of the Kern High School District, and Dr. Sonya Christian, president of Bakersfield College, will explain what partnerships their districts are building within the community, and how our members can get involved.

Branding your business is more than just a company logo. It’s a valuable asset that differentiates you from your competitors. However, many business owners, even marketing professionals, simply don’t know what goes into creating a brand. Daniel Harrison, vice president of LightWave Education, will explain what it takes to brand your company from the inside out. You will:
· Discuss what branding is and what it isn’t
· Explore well-known brands
· Learn more about logos, the most misunderstood element of a brand
· Find out how to create a brand, and what to avoid and what will help
· Discover the costs associated with establishing a brand.

The seminar will be held at the Chamber office, 1725 Eye St. Check-in and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., and the seminar runs from noon to 1 p.m. Cost is $20 for members; $40 for nonmembers. The GRC Committee Meeting is cancelled today.

Develops and implements seminars that help businesses enhance operations through educational, informative sessions. Works to create a strong local economy, increase member participation and serve as a testimonial to prospective businesses. Meets the fourth Monday of each month at noon.

Works toward enhancing public awareness of the importance of the energy industry to the community's economy. Provides a forum for identifying and discussing common issues and concerns affecting the industry and consumers, and provides counsel to the Chamber board on these issues. Meets third Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m.

Governmental Review Council meeting is cancelled today.

Public relations for the Chamber, welcoming new businesses to the community at groundbreaking, ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremonies. Organizes and facilitates events where Chamber members network in a social atmosphere that also provides a forum for member businesses to showcase their locations, products and services. Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Social media is becoming the choice of many businesses to reach out to their customer base. However, with so many platforms to choose from, which ones are right for your company and how do you manage them all?
Those are just some of the questions that will be answered. Amber Chiang, director of marketing and public relations from Bakersfield College, helped the college establish its presence across various social media platforms, and will explain how to:

· Pick the social media platform that is right for you.
· Determine who should be your social media voice, and what kind of voice that should be.
· Understand the ins and outs of social media dashboards.
· Create engagement through contests.
