Public relations for the Chamber, welcoming new businesses to the community at groundbreaking, ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremonies. Organizes and facilitates events where Chamber members network in a social atmosphere that also provides a forum for member businesses to showcase their locations, products and services. Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Charlie McKay, graphic artist and social media manager for the Saba Agency, will explain how you can aboid and handle negative backlash online. In this session, you will:

- Discuss the various types of negative feedback and how to deal with them.
- Learn how to handle negative feedback on varouis social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Yelp.
- Develop a comprehenseive plan on how to handle any situation that may arise with your company's online presence.

Cost is $20 for members; $40 for nonmembers. A boxed lunch will be provided.

Coordinates an event that promotes the city and the people of Bakersfield. A banquet and awards presentation focused on the positive attributes of Bakersfield's businesses, organizations and citizens. Meets monthly for approximately nine months a year on the second Tuesday of each month.

It's probably the most important new law to hit the books this year. The Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 goes into effect on July 1, 2015, and will require employers to provide paid sick leave to any employee who worked in California for 30 days. This new law impacts all businesses, regardless of their size.

Jerry Pearson, a partner with the Law Offices of Young Wooldridge, will help employers and human resource managers navigate through the complexities of this new law, and provide answers to questions, such as:
* I already have a sick leave policy. Do I have to change it?
* Do I have to offer paid sick leave to temporary employees?
* I have a PTO policy. Does that meet the requirements of the new law?
