Falling Oil Prices: The Local Economic Impact and What's Next

The price of oil continues to drop to record setting lows with no end in sight. The drop is fueling a fall in gas prices, which has many drivers breathing a sigh of relief. However, the impact may be more far reaching than lower gas prices.

The Chamber will explore the impact the drop in oil prices will have right here in Kern County. Speakers will include Chad Hathaway, owner of Hathaway LLC., Blair Knox, public affairs director for the California Independent Petroleum Association, and Nick Ortiz, Western States Petroleum Association.

The purpose of the Networking Breakfast is to open the door for small businesses to find out about opportunities to do business with large companies. This quarterly event provides valuable information and also offers attendees the chance to promote their products and services to a wide variety of potential clients.  

With Bakersfield hosting the nation's largest Relay for Life event, Marcella Ives, senior marketing manager, community engagement for the American Cancer Society, will explain the simple ways that companies can get involved in saving lives in the "Fight to End Cancer." Jenifer Natto, general manager with the Outlets at Tejon, will explain what various businesses can do to help keep Kern County's newest shopping center running smoothly.
