Dear Community Members,

Berkshire Middle School (Birmingham Public Schools) is excited to host our first Career and College Day on Friday, April 5th, 2024. Our goal is to open doors for our students by sharing with them many different pathways to building fulfilling and productive lives. We are looking to our community to find alumni and professionals from as many different colleges and careers as possible. Your donations of time and expertise to this dynamic and exciting live learning experience are greatly appreciated!

Our Career and College Day will begin at 8:20am. We will welcome our representatives with coffee and bagels and a quick meeting before we head to the college and career stations in our gymnasium. We are asking for a few things from our representatives:

A completed iChat form, submitted by March 22nd.

Some sort of visual presentation for our students, as the students’ time with you will be quick! This could be: a trifold presentation, a poster, a presentation on your computer, or even some photos you bring with you that day. We have clear displays we could tape things on between 8:20 am and when the students arrive at 9:03 am. If you are representing your alma mater, wear your college swag! If you would like us to print these photos for you (on regular printer paper, add them to either this google photos album or this presentation).

This form. It will help us prepare a visual for students including your name, the career or college you are representing, and the answers to a few pertinent questions for students if they don't all get a chance to interact with you personally!


Our students will spend 20 minutes in the career room, and 20 minutes in the college room.

8th grade: 9:03-9:44am

7th grade: 9:48-10:29am

6th grade: 10:33-11:14am


We are hoping to have as wide a representation as possible! On our wishlist are representatives with experience from Trade Schools, Community Colleges, Local Universities as well as more distance universities, HBCUs, business owners, plumbers, electricians, architects, engineers, interior designers, writers, hair stylists, cosmetologists, real estate agents, mechanics, as well as doctors, lawyers, business people, etc.
