Upward Broadband, a local, family-owned high-speed internet provider, is excited to announce we have been awarded $1.476 million in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority’s Capital Funds Project (CPF). These funds will be used to increase high-speed broadband access to approximately 1,400 locations in the Lebanon and Dauphin County areas within the next two and a half years.

“Upward Broadband was one of only 12 applicants awarded CPF monies, and is included among national internet providers like Comcast, Frontier, Verizon and Windstream,” said Tim Beiler, Owner and CEO of Upward Broadband. “We are honored to have received this award, and are grateful for the opportunity to expand access to high-speed internet in areas that desperately need it.”

The funds will allow Upward Broadband to construct one new tower and add equipment to five existing towers, which will serve parts of Annville, Grantville, Hershey, Jonestown, Lebanon, Myerstown, Palmyra, Richland, Womelsdorf and surrounding areas.

Powerful next-generation fixed wireless access will be deployed on these towers, enabling Upward Broadband to better reach homes blocked by obstructions like trees. Technology on Upward Broadband’s current towers require a line of sight to our towers to offer service.
