Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County will be kicking off an exciting new house project, located at 1042 Lehman Street, Lebanon, on Sunday, March 13, at 1:30 pm. The Kick-off will include a tour of the house that Habitat is renovating, as well as information about the next steps. The event is open to the local community. Habitat staff, donors, volunteers, sponsors, and local business representatives will be present to celebrate the beginning of a new Habitat build.
The house on Lehman Street was damaged in a fire and will be a complete renovation. Habitat is still in need of funding and volunteers for this project, which is larger than the typical Lebanon Habitat build. “This is a major project…we need support now from our community, local businesses and churches, to raise an additional $35,000 to complete the rehab. We’d like to have a qualified partner family moved in by December,” stated Eric Weaver, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County.
Thrivent Financial was a major contributor for Habitat’s build last year on Elm Street and continues to be a major contributor for the upcoming project on Lehman Street. “It’s inspiring to work alongside Habitat families, Thrivent members, and volunteers from the community,” stated Jim Gill, local Thrivent representative. Thrivent Financial, Habitat for Humanity’s largest donor, contributed $35,000 towards the $70,000 project.
Valspar is also a contributor for the upcoming build. The corporation is not only donating paint for the project on Lehman Street, but for every Habitat house built, repaired and restored in Lebanon County. The Valspar Foundation also matched donations to Habitat for Humanity from local Valspar employees.
Members of the community can get involved with the upcoming Habitat build by making a donation and/or volunteering. Donations to the Lehman Street project can be made online at: www.habitatlebanon.org or by sending a check to Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County, 1455 E. Main Street, Annville, PA 17003. Volunteers can select a Saturday to build with Habitat by visiting the website at www.habitatlebanon.org. The volunteer calendar is located on the bottom left of the page and also contains a link to the volunteer form. Building experience is not required.
