LAWTON, OKLA. – AUG. 2020 – The Board of Directors of City National Bank & Trust (CNB) have announced Doug Stephens, Senior Vice President, as the bank’s Chief Lending Officer.
Stephens is no stranger to City National Bank, dedicating the last 20 years of service to the company. He most recently served as the bank’s Senior Vice President and Credit Administration Officer, where he was responsible for managing underwriting functions of the bank’s lending operations and assisted with management of CNB’s Loan Department. Prior to that role, Stephens served as regional manager for the Tulsa-area branches from January 2002 through December 2017. Stephens also spent a year as a corporate trainer and interim branch manager (2001-2002). He began his employment with CNB in June of 2000 as a retail banker at the Walmart-Sheridan branch in Lawton.
“I’m looking forward to developing relationships with our customers and expanding on future relationships. I also look forward to leading and growing our lenders, along with the loan department,” said Stephens, who serves as Chairman of the Credit Administration Committee. He is also a member of CNB’s Executive Loan Committee, Remote Cash Management Committee, Compliance and Community Relations Act Committee, and the Crisis Management Team.
Stephens graduated from Oklahoma Christian University with a Bachelor’s in Science in 1999. He earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Tulsa Community College in 2005 and continued his education at Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance (2006) and his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in 2016. Stephens has completed his first year of Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with plans to finish the three year course in the near future. He has also completed Commercial Lending School through the Oklahoma Banker’s Association (OBA) and Consumer Lending School through Risk Management Associates (RMA).
Separately, Stephens has volunteered with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Junior Achievement. He has previously served as a member of OBA’s operations school board and government relations council.
Stephens succeeds Paul Ellwanger, who retired in June after 44 years with CNB. He has worked alongside him for the last two years.
“It was an incredible opportunity to work and be mentored by Paul prior to his retirement,” he said. “It’s also been rewarding to be a member of the CNB family. They’ve allowed me to grow, learn and just be part of something bigger than I could ever imagine. This is an incredible organization to work for and I look forward to the future.”
Stephens was raised in Cache and after nearly 17 years in Tulsa, recently returned to Lawton where he resides with his wife, Erica. Together, they have three children.
