Bloomfield Hills, MI
01/02/2020 12:28 PM

Registration for the 2020 Bloomfield Hills Financial Stock to Scholarship Challenge is scheduled to launch Monday, January 6th with actual trading dates running from February 4th through April 4th, 2020.  The goal of the challenge is to help students in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties understand the basics of investing in the stock market by participating in a risk-free environment with the opportunity to win scholarship money.

“We’re helping students understand how the stock market works, how financial, political, economic and weather-related events can affect the stock market and how a company’s performance can impact a shareholder’s return on investment,” said Bloomfield Hills Financial founder and CEO, Kevin VanDyke. “We’re encouraging students to take an interest in the stock market while keeping it fun.”

Each student will be provided access to an online investment account pre-funded with $100,000 in “play money” which they use to purchase various stocks and mutual funds. Participants place trades in their portfolios at will with the goal to amass more “money” in their account than any other participant. The top three students who accrue the most wealth by the end of the challenge period will be awarded scholarship money.

Since 2012, the Bloomfield Hills Financial Stock to Scholarship Challenge has provided scholarships to 29 metro Detroit students.
