Having worked in the field of recovery for many years, I was introduced to a friend who also worked in recovery and over a cup of coffee one day we discovered that our ideas and beliefs concerning sobriety mirrored one another emphatically – that happy, joyous and free were not necessarily something to happen in the future, but available to us and to everyone now.
The ideas of a spiritual awakening and a psychic change, as promised in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous (and the idea behind every great spiritual teaching), ARE THE SOLUTION.
Keeping this end game in mind, I continued to investigate my own truth, and this is what I discovered:
1. To thine own self be true
Having searched outside of myself for many years to no avail, I found that instinct and intuition is the ultimate Guide, providing answers 100% of the time that lead only to the highest good.
2. Love without conditions...
is the true meaning of the word love. In its purest form, there is never an if you do this, say this, or be this attached to love.
3. Non-judgment
We all have an autonomous path–a relationship with Spirit–that must be
honored. Through self-searching in the process of recovery, I learned that it is not about judgment and shame, but about acceptance and discernment, choosing to grow towards our most authentic selves, allowing others to do the same.
4. Non-violation
Aligning with spirit, goodness, creating within ourselves and the world about us where violation, emotionally, physically, and spiritually is non-existent. Safety in all these areas represent an act of love.
5. Presence
is invaluable to the practicing of the principles just described. In each moment we can practice being true to to thine own self, love without conditions, non-judgement and non-violation towards ourselves and those around us. Thus, the 5 Principles and 5 Residential was born.
Striving to live and teach the principles above, we have grown from an 8 bed women’s only sober living program to having one of the most reputable, sought after Outpatient Programs in Los Angeles, serving hundreds of people – both men and women.
Committed to creating a safe space, full of love, modeling and teaching living a life through one’s own instinct and intuition, our goal is not to “get you sober” but to help you create a life that you really want to live, where drugs or alcohol just aren’t necessary. We are a family owned and operated organization, a real world example of “living the life of your dreams!”
Wishing you peace in all that is good and may all YOUR dreams come true,
