Kids Kicking Cancer Announces National Speaker Lineup for Inaugural Pediatric Therapeutic Techniques Conference November 6-7 in Birmingham, Michigan
Leading Experts in Pediatric Psychosocial and Palliative Care Come Together to Present
Conference for Pediatric Professionals
Birmingham, Michigan - Kids Kicking Cancer is hosting “Therapeutic Techniques for the 21st Century: Psychosocial and Palliative Care Conference” November 6 at the Community House in Birmingham (with an optional second day, November 7, at the Charach Kids Kicking Cancer Global Center in Southfield). The conference will feature speakers from across the country presenting information on the latest leading edge therapy techniques in the areas of pediatric psychosocial and palliative care. The cost of the seminar is $100, with limited scholarships available. Conference details appear below. Program is presented in partnership with The Children’s Foundation.
“We felt it was important to bring this conference to the midwest for many reasons, including the collaboration with individuals who have ‘written the book,’ so to speak, on leading edge pediatric palliative therapy techniques,” said Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg (Rabbi G.), Founder of Kids Kicking Cancer. “This conference is designed for individuals in child life, social work, health care - truly any professional involved in pediatric care. It’s a rare opportunity to get all of these individuals in one room for a truly groundbreaking conference.” In addition, the conference offers up to 7.5 Child Life, 6 Nursing CE credits and up to 7 Social Work credits.

Wednesday, November 6 - The Community House (380 Bates Street; Birmingham, Michigan)
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Conference with featured speakers
4:30 p.m. - Networking and Cocktail Reception
Thursday, November 7 - Charach Kids Kicking Cancer Global Center (Southfield, Michigan)
8:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. - Optional program to learn about Kids Kicking Cancer’s therapeutic martial arts techniques
Keynote Speaker is Dr. Elisha Waldman, MD, Chief, Division of Palliative Care, Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Waldman is the author of “This Narrow Space: A Pediatric Oncologist, His Jewish, Muslim, and Christian Patients, and a hospital in Jerusalem.”
Additional speakers include Rabbi G., Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Wayne State University School of Medicine and Global Director of Kids Kicking Cancer, Lila Lazarus, Award Winning News Anchor and Health Reporter, Hilary Marusak, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, Wayne State University School of Medicine, and Dr. Robert Folberg, MD, Founding Dean, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
