The Gift of Hope

The partnership between the Local churches, The Terrell Police Department, The Terrell Fire Department, Kaufman Sheriffs’ Department, Child Advocate Attorney, The Department of Family Protective Services Faith Based Programs, Community Sponsors, Harvest Family Life and REACH Child Placing Agency, in an effort, to restore Faith to Foster Children and Bio-Families in crisis during the holiday season.
Objective: To restore a child’s Faith in the community that is committed to protecting them during the removal from their families, due to abuse and/or neglect during the holiday season. Fostering respect not fear of those who have taken the oath to protect and serve their communities.
Proposal:
1. Invite several local churches and Community Partners within the Kaufman County Community to donate a $100 WalMart Gift Card for a child removed from their home during the Holiday season and Kin-Ship Families that have taken in children due to Abuse and/or Neglect.
2. Invite local Child Advocate Attorneys to donate a $100, WalMart Gift Card for a child removed from their home during the Holiday season Kin-Ship Families that have taken in children due to Abuse and/or Neglect.
3. Invite Local Law Enforcement and The Fire Department to donate a $100, WalMart Gift Card for a child removed from their home during the Holiday season.
1) The Terrell Police Department, Terrell Fire Department & Kaufman Sheriffs’ Department is asked to provide transportation and to shop with the foster children Kin-Ship Children that have been taken into custody due to Abuse and/or Neglect at Walmart in effort to foster respect not fear, of those who have taken the oath to protect and serve their communities.
4. The department of Family and Protected Services will provide us with the names of children who are in kinship care, recipients of family-based services and investigations who were removed from their homes during the months of October, November and December. Each child will be placed on the sponsorship list and will be selected for “The Gift of Hope”. According to the number of community sponsorships.
5. Children will be paired with the police officers, fireman and sheriff’s officers to ride with them to Walmart Tuesday December 17th @ 5:00 pm. Community volunteers will be paired with the children and officers, once they arrive at WalMart.
6. Shopping experience will take place from 5:15p - 6:45p. Children and their gifts will be taken to Cornerstone Baptist Church Terrell to wrap gifts, have dinner and fellowship with officers and Faith Community Churches & Partners. Kin-ship and/or Bio-Families are encouraged to meet their children at the church at 7:00p.
7. Dinner will be provided and donated by one of our local restaurants.
8. The Kaufman Herald and Terrell Tribune will be asked to use their resources to participate in the event.
9. The News Media outlets will be invited to share in the community event.
