In preparation for opening a new indoor recreation facility
later this year, Blue Valley Recreation Commission hired Adam Lockard as the facility’s
second full-time employee. Lockard is poised to serve as the assistant facility
supervisor and fitness coordinator. The new facility, being built at the Blue
Valley School District’s Hilltop Campus, will house an indoor walk/run track,
sports courts, dance studios, and fitness programs.
Lockard graduated from the University of Central Missouri
with a bachelor’s in general recreation and a master’s in physical
education/exercise science and sport science. He spent the last three years in
Missouri overseeing operations for Gladstone’s community center.
“Adam’s community-first attitude is a perfect fit for Blue Valley
Recreation,” said Jason Goin, who was hired in March as the supervisor for the
new facility. “His expertise in the health and wellness field is key to
providing a healthy and engaging experience.”
Lockard’s passion is fitness. A self-describe fitness
enthusiast, his experience in the area will move Blue Valley Rec to new level
of fitness programming. He will actively program yoga, cardio equipment, and
strength areas year-round.
“I love revamping fitness trends to help others reach their
goals,” commented Lockard. “A healthy attitude improves overall life
experiences and I am excited about the opportunities the new facility will
provide.
Lockard holds memberships in National Intramural-Recreation
Sports Association (NIRSA), Missouri Parks and Recreation Association (MRPA),
and Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA).
