Seniors / Active Older Adults 

The Fun Bunch - The goal of the Fun Bunch is to increase the activities of area seniors, both physically and mentally and support the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce. This group, self proclaimed the Fun Bunch, provides opportunities for fellowship and community service to senior citizens / active older adults through monthly gatherings with programs on subjects of interest and a variety of activities.

Members of the Fun Bunch attend luncheons, blenders and ribbon cuttings and serve in many voluntary capacities at the South Belt Ellington Chamber of Commerce.

SCORE Small Business Presentation: Business Plans

This free Business Plan workshop will walk you through the steps needed for most business plans. It will help remove the confusion and fear and allow you to get started on your business plan today by providing sample questions to answer about your business.

The workshop will give you valuable and powerful tools to help guide you. Of special importance is the uniquely crafted Business Idea Feasibility Test. Other tools will guide you through marketing techniques including the confusing world of digital marketing.

Be prepared to leave with more confidence in your ability to write an effective business plan.

At the end of this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to meet SCORE certified mentors who are readily available to provide FREE and CONFIDENTIAL mentoring.

Presented by Rob Gray, who has over 15 years of financial structuring and management experience as a banker and corporate finance specialist. As a certified SCORE mentor he has helped many clients to develop business plans, obtain financing and manage the business.

2018 Fall Experiential Leadership Communication Summit

In less than 10 days, we are hosting the first ever-Experiential Leadership Communication Summit at 7007 Bertner, Houston, Texas 77030. The time is 8 am to 5 pm.

Past International Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Karen Blake is going to regale us with her journey and share her vision to help each of us achieve our own dreams.


Triple Crown and DTM Ceremony

Moderated by four-time Distinguished Toastmaster, Doris Brooks. We have several Triple Crown winners and around thirty Distinguished Toastmasters (some who are also Triple Crown Winners who will be celebrated in a one-hour event with all the excitement these achievements deserve.



Ask the Winners – Panel Discussion

We will also have a panel discussion moderated by Past International Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Pamela McCown. Three of our hometown Speakers, 2018 World Champion, Ramona Smith, 2014 Third Place World Champion, Kelly Sargent, and top ten contestant Yolanda Bynum. Each of these World Class Speakers made it to the world stage and will share their personal experiences with you! Find out what it is like to get to this level after competing against 30,000 other Speakers from around the world!



Educational Sessions

There are seventeen educational sessions where you are invited to participate and learn through experiential training technics what it takes to be a leader and speak with a leader’s voice.



Toastmasters Beyond the Club Leadership Panel

There is another panel discussion Moderated by Past International Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Karen Blake. This panel includes Past International Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Pamela McCown - District Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Sheryle H. Warren - Program Quality Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Kathryn R. Kest and Club Growth Director, Distinguished Toastmaster, Rose Williams.

To start the day, there will be breakfast snacks such as hard-boiled eggs, pastries, cheese, fruit, juice, coffee, and water for your enjoyment.


We will offer Arby’s box lunches during the lunch break and snacks in the middle of the afternoon along with fresh coffee and sodas.

Holiday Celebration with Apollo Chamber Players

Holiday Celebration with Apollo Chamber Players
Apollo Chamber Players, a celebrated ensemble based in Houston, visits Parker Williams Branch Library on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. to perform holiday music from England, Germany, France, Turkey, Nigeria, Korea, Mexico and Jewish faith traditions.

Apollo Chamber Players explores the cultural and folkloric influences in classical music through concerts locally as well as nationally and internationally. Since its founding in 2008, the ensemble has played sold out concerts in Carnegie Hall in New York City and numerous other venues. It regularly appears on American Public Media’s Performance Today, and last year the ensemble was the first to record and perform in Cuba since international relations were restored.

Parker Williams Branch Library is located at 10851 Scarsdale Blvd. at the intersection with Beamer Road. This performance is free and open to everyone. For more information, please call the library at 832-927-7870.
