Chefs for Habitat Gala - 10 year anniversary

Come enjoy the 10th anniversary celebration of Chefs for Habitat, an annual gala fundraiser hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County. Habitat is a nonprofit organization that partners with low income families to build safe, reliable homes for people in need right here in Wicomico County. During this food and fun-filled event, local chefs provide samples of their signature dishes for guests to enjoy. A celebrity sous chef competition, live and silent auctions, music, and dancing round out this festive night. Join us for a wonderful evening at the Civic Center while supporting Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County’s mission that everyone deserves a decent place to call home.


Tickets are $75 and sponsorship opportunities are available.

The need for this data is particularly great on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, where numerous birds live, yet limited eBird data is collected.

Aging Into Medicare
If you are getting ready to turn 65 in the next 6 months or will be going on Medicare soon, MAC’s new class, “Aging Into Medicare,” is for you!

Discussion will include how Medicare works, what it covers and when to apply.

The free class is presented by MAC’s State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) staff, and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

  • Business Before Hours meetings include structured member introductions, an exchange of business needs, and open networking activities.

Spring ASL Level 1 Classes

Classes are taught by a deaf instructor. Students will learn about Deaf Culture and how to carry on an everyday conversation with deaf individuals. Role playing and games designed to teach basic signs are used as tools. By the end of class, a sampling of the skills you will learn are: Manual Alphabet, numbers, introducing yourself and exchanging personal information. We strongly encourage students that pass level 1 to continue to learn by taking a future level class 2 which will build on what was learned in level 1. Like any other language, Level 1 only covers the basics and there is much more to learn to be able to communicate effectively in ASL.

 

ASL Level 1 Classes will be held March 3 – April 2, 2020 every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8pm. Cost of class is $225 & includes textbook. If you have the textbook cost is $150. In case of inclement weather make up classes will be held on April 7th & April 12th. All classes held at Deaf Independent Living Association, 806 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, Maryland. Registration is limited to 20 people. Must be at least 13 years of age to take course.

Comptroller Franchot and the State of Maryland are investing $150 million dollars in a new, state of the art, integrated tax system.

 

Once fully implemented, COMPASS will change the way taxpayers interact with the Comptroller’s Office. 

 

COMPASS, Maryland's new tax system upgrade, will be more secure, more efficient and more user-friendly than ever before. 

 

Business owners who may pay several different types of taxes – sales tax and corporate income taxes for example, in addition to personal income tax – will be able to track all their accounts through the same system.

The British Invasion Experience Dinner Theater
The British Invasion Experience pays tribute to entire genre that changed the face of music. From The Beatles to the The Who, from The Hollies to Led Zeppelin, The British Invasion Experience gives audiences a memorable, electrifying and exciting night by taking a trip down memory lane. The members of The British Invasion Experience are dedicated to engaging audiences as they flashback to the British groups of the 60's era.
