Attention crafters!!

Is your stash of supplies getting out of control?

Here’s your chance to get rid of your excess craft supplies… and make room for new ones!

MAC is seeking participants for a crafters’ yard sale to be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MAC. Tables are $15. Table reservations are now being taken.

Yarn, scrapbook supplies, embroidery and cross-stitch, fabric, patterns,sewing notions - are just of few examples of the items that are welcome! No pre-made crafts please.

18th Annual Walk for Awareness

Women Supporting Women is having our 18th Annual Walk for Awareness.

Help us to raise money to keep providing free services to breast cancer survivors on Delmarva.

Registration is $25/person or $30/person on the day of event. (Children under 12 are free) Fee includes lunch from Texas Roadhouse, T-shirt and bottle of water.

Want to bring your dog? No problem. Furry friends are $5/dog and includes a goodie bag, bandana and AYCD (all you can drink) water.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM and walk at 10:00 AM.

Awards will be given for top fundraising team, top fundraising individual, largest team, best decorated team and best decorated dog.

Join local birders, Ward Museun staff, and SU students and faculty as they collect data on local migrating bird population and submit that data into the Cornell Lab of Ornithology‘s eBird citizen science program. eBird provides the opportunity to collect real data for real scientific purposes. The need for this data is particularly great on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, where numerous birds live, yet limited eBird data is collected.

MAC's Life Bridges program assists people with dementia, especially those living alone, to remain independent at home by providing community-based interventions, respite day care and programs designed to reduce family caregiver stress.

Learn to prevent caregiver burnout at free workshop

Stories Love Music will present a free workshop for both family and professional caregivers who care for seniors with memory impairment, dementia and Alzheimer’s. The workshop, The Joy of Creative Engagement, will be held at MAC Inc. in Salisbury on Thursday, Oct. 17, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The program addresses caregiver burnout and offers creative tips and tools for caregiving.

Advance registration is encouraged and include lunch. Limited respite care is available to those who register separately by Oct. 10. Program registration will be accepted after Oct. 14 but will not include lunch.

Attendees will learn to address burnout and stress associated with caregiving, receive creative tools to apply to caregiving and meet other caregivers.

General Membership Luncheon / City Council Candidate Forum

 

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers Government and Business Affairs Committee will host a General Membership Luncheon and forum featuring the candidates running for seats on the Salisbury City Council. 

This luncheon is open to all Chamber members and the general public.

The candidates will present their campaign platforms and outline their goals if elected to serve as a member of the City Council for the next four years.

The Luncheon and forum will be held at 11:30 AM on October 17, 2019 at Salisbury University in the Worcester Room at the Commons Dining Hall. You may enter through Guerrieri Student Union and continue through to the Commons Dining Hall.

Non-members: $35

S'mores 'n' More benefits Meals on Wheels

MAC Inc. is hosting an evening of fun and culinary treats – including gooey sweet s’mores -  on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 5-7 p.m. at Tall Tales Brewing Company in Parsonsburg.

S’mores and More will include an appetizer buffet of house recipe hummus, fresh tomato bruschetta and a cucumber salad with kalamata olives and onion served with fire-roasted baguettes (vegan); fresh-cut vegetable boards served with ranch dressing; crab dip served with crackers; pretzel bites served with honey mustard; and, of course, s’mores! 

Admission is $30 for adults or $15 for children ages 12 and under, and includes iced tea and water. Alcoholic beverages will be available, but are not included in the admission price.

A silent auction also is planned.

Casting Crowns - Only Jesus Tour
GRAMMY® winning multi-platinum group Casting Crowns has announced plans to extend its widely popular Only Jesus Tour this fall, following a successful 37-city spring run which included multiple sell-outs in arenas across the country.

The tour, which takes its name from the band’s current top-selling album Only Jesus, will feature a brand new lineup for the fall, including top-selling worship artist Kari Jobe, songwriter/worship leader Cody Carnes (also married to Kari) and newcomer Jamie Kimmett. The concert will be hosted by hip-hop act Zauntee. Presented by Compassion International, the tour will come to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Thursday, Oct. 17. The show begins at 7 p.m.

Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc, is hosting our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament

Friday, October 18, 2019, at Green Hill Country Club.

Join us for our sole annual fundraiser while enjoying the sport and meeting other supporters of our organization.
