This 9 hole "Fun for Everyone" event, presented by Pohanka Automotive of Salisbury, will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, beginning at 3:30 PM at Green Hill Country Club.

The event is for beginners and seasoned golfers alike.

Salisbury, MD – In recognition of the demand for workers in the Insurance industry, Lower Shore Workforce Alliance has partnered with The Insurance Market, Gary Marshall Insurance, Landmark Insurance & Financial Group and Tawes Insurance to develop a no-cost training program featuring a Maryland pre-licensing exam prep class. This training will provide a first step toward obtaining a Maryland State Insurance license in areas of Property and Casualty Insurance.

Applicants may apply online from March 1 to March 31.

The applicants will be scheduled to take a basic skills test and interview with the student selection committee on April 4 at 9 am - 4 pm or April 6 at 9 am - 4 pm at the Lower Shore American Job Center. 

Jim Hartstein with The Insurance Market will be teaching the 3-day course on April 24, 25th and 26^th from 9 am - 4 pm to at the Lower Shore American Job Center.

Individuals who complete the course will have the opportunity to interview with a local Insurance Company and will receive a free exam voucher for the Maryland Property and Casualty Licensing exam.

In honor of Second Chance Month, it's important to bring awareness to the importance of helping individuals returning from incarceration or those with a criminal background. As Lower Shore Re-entry Navigator for The Maryland Department of Labor, I’m very passionate about reducing recidivism and helping this clientele overcome barriers. Ms. Shreeves, Regional Reentry & Transition Services Specialist with DPSCS Eastern Correctional Institution, and I will be hosting three Re-entry Job & Resource Fairs in each county next month.

We will be gathering local community resources in one space to assist individuals in our communities to build meaningful second chances. Employers and providers will be available to talk and assist attendees with MWE registration, résumés, federal bonding, vocational programs, employment opportunities, housing, utility assistance, health care, mental health services, substance abuse programs, voter registration, and other local resources. Local Veteran Employer Representatives & Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialists will also be available.

*These events are free and open to the entire community.  

The Wellness Center is a new Outpatient Mental Health Center specializing in integrating holistic practices into mental health treatment and trauma-informed care.

The Wellness Center team takes pride in offering individualized care and an integrative perspective to treating the overall health of the individuals they serve.

Celebrate Easter on the Eastern Shore at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina!  The resort will provide an extravagant Easter Day brunch and family activities for the holiday.

The Easter Brunch will be available on Sunday, April 9 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The menu will feature a variety of breakfast favorites, local seafood, a carving station with delicious entrée selections, artisanal cheese and charcuterie, and a variety of fresh fruit.
