Nurses and technicians are invited to learn about renal and hemodialysis topics regularly at Peninsula Regional's Nephrology Nurses Conference series. The next conference will take place at Peninsula Regional's Hallowell Conference Center. The topic is Medical Marijuana, and the speaker will be Dr. Dae Yim, PharmD, BCPS, a pharmacist at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Organizers are applying for 1 CEU for this event.

A summer Paint Night will be held on Friday, July 26, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at MAC. The cost is $35 and includes a light meal, with beverages and dessert, plus instruction and all supplies needed to create a finished painting.

Reservations are due July 24.

Kids & Pros will be at James Bennett High School in Salisbury for a FREE football clinic. NFL alumni teach safe tackling techniques and position fundamentals training incorporating life skills lessons into a 1-day non-contact skills clinic for athletes 7-13. Sign up today! Space is limited, registration is required, no equipment is necessary.

There is also a parent information session at 2:15pm to cover proper equipment fitting and concussion awareness.  

The Blood Bank of Delmarva, Comfort Keepers 596 and the Parsonsburg Volunteer Fire Department are hosting a Summer Blood Drive. We are preregistering for time slots from 1-6 PM. (Crystal at 410-443-5733).

We are accepting blood donations as well as monetary gifts.

One of the members of Parsonsburg FD issued a friendly challenge to the community..."Boots vs Badges" to see who can preregister the most donors. As of today (7/9/19) the Firemen of the area have preregistered in numbers.

This 3-hour class focuses on survival skills for the first six weeks home with baby. Topics include diapering, bathing, sleeping, calming a fussy baby, becoming a new family, and much more. Dad or another support person is encouraged to attend with Mom. Get some great hands-on experience! Pre- registration and payment of $40 is required. You do not have to bring anything to this class.

There is a lot going on in the Nanticoke River watershed. We want to help you connect with those working on similar programs, or just help you gain an understanding of the different ways community organizations are working hard to protect one of the cleanest rivers in the Chesapeake Bay watershed!

The Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute offers free vascular screenings for people 55 or older, by appointment. All screenings will be performed at Peninsula Regional Medical Center between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Appointments are required - call 410-543-7123.

The free screenings will include ultrasound testing for carotid artery blockage and abdominal aortic aneurysm, and ankle-brachial index tests for peripheral artery disease.

The screenings are for individuals who exhibit at least three prominent risk factors or one symptom. Risk factors for vascular disease include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, heart disease and a family history of vascular disease. Symptoms include leg pain when walking, numbness in the leg or foot, stroke-like symptoms (numbness, weakness, dizziness and difficulties with speech or vision), a family history of aneurysm and unexplained abdominal or back pain. Those currently under a physician’s care for vascular or arterial health issues and those who have participated in this screening in the past are not eligible to participate.

On August 8th at 5pm celebrate with Mayor Jake Day, our sponsors and vital volunteers that make our Eastern Shore Walk to End Alzheimer's a success! We'll be at Brew River enjoying great food and the view of the water. The evening festivities will include a ribbon cutting, door prizes, and opportunities to register your team.

Throughout the weekend, photographers of all skill levels are invited to participate in seminars and workshops offered by a selection of the region’s top nature photographers. Additionally, photographers are encouraged to enter their photos in one of the competitions three levels: professional, amateur, or youth.

 Entries are judged Saturday evening on basis of originality/uniqueness, creativity, content, composition, and photographic quality. All decisions made by the judges are final. Mail- Ins will be accepted July 1, 2019 through August 9, 2019. Walk-ins are welcomed August 9 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m

Know someone dealing with hearing loss?

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, beginning at 10 a.m., a representative from Chesapeake Hearing Center will offer tips on how best to communicate with someone who is having trouble hearing you.

Caregivers, along with anyone else who’s interested, are invited to attend a Mini Senior Training session at MAC Inc., 909 Progress Circle, Suite 100, Salisbury, MD, 21804, located behind Holly Center on Snow Hill Road. The session begins at 10 a.m.

All proceeds raised at this event will benefit the Life Crisis Center. A not for profit dedicated to helping survivors and families of domestic violence and sexual abuse have a healthy, safe environment to heal.

The Wicomico County Fair, organized by the Wicomico Farm & Home Show and Wicomico County, returns to WinterPlace Park from Aug. 16-18.

It is presented by Perdue Farms and the Pohanka Automotive Group.

Hours are Friday, Aug. 16, from 4-11 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 19, from noon-6 p.m.
