Stepping On Falls Prevention Class.


Do you have a fear of falling? Are you age 60 and older? Stepping On is a free falls prevention class that will help you recognize your risk of falling, and build the physical strength and practical skills you need to avoid falling. Local experts and trained leaders will help you find solutions to make your home safer and your body stronger. The next Stepping On class will be held on Tuesdays, Nov. 6 to Dec. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at MAC, Inc. To register, call 410-742-0505, ext. 145.

"The Joy of Creative Engagement"

A free workshop for caregivers, “The Joy of Creative Engagement,” will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at MAC, Inc., the Area Agency on Aging.normal">The workshop will be presented by Ilyana Kadushin, founder of Stories Love Music Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides programs for senior citizens with memory loss, and their caregivers. This workshop is intended for the caregivers of those age 65 and older, who have Alzheimer’s and dementia, in addition to elder care health professionals. Sessions will focus on how caregivers can treat their burnout and stress, as well as creative tools to apply to caregiving. Lunch will be provided. General Membership Luncheon with Mary Beth Tung

Mary Beth Tung, Ph.D., Esq., was named by Governor Hogan as the Director of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) on May 17, 2016. As Director of the MEA, Dr. Tung works to ensure that Maryland’s energy portfolio benefits Maryland residents, businesses and local government organizations by improving the effective use of all of energy resources available in the state. Dr. Tung oversees nearly 40 energy related programs including grants that benefit low-to-moderate income families, commercial and industrial entities, and residential. These programs also promote expansion of renewable energy and promotion of energy efficiency for businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Turkey Trek 5K
Before you gear up for your big Thanksgiving feast, come run the Turkey Trek 5K along Pemberton Historical Park's beautiful nature trails in Salisbury, Maryland. The race winds through Pemberton Park's forests, meadows and wetlands. Refreshments and holiday pie will be available after the race (it is Thanksgiving after all)!

All proceeds from the race go toward Pemberton Nature Camp and other environmental education programs. Thank you for your support of the Park!

    Renée M. Winsky is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Leadership Maryland, a professional development program dedicated to building a better Maryland by harnessing the strength of the leaders throughout the state’s local businesses and communities. Each year, Leadership Maryland brings together a class of 52 local leaders selected from all sectors, industries, and geographic regions of Maryland to engage on the vital issues affecting the state and work to build solutions for real, actionable change. In this role she manages the day-to-day operations of the organization and facilitates the work of the Board of Directors. In accordance with the Corporation’s mission she plans and administers programs to develop leadership throughout the State. Prior to joining Leadership Maryland, Ms. Winsky served as the Executive Director of the Chesapeake Innovation Center, CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland, and as the President and Executive Director of the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO). She has held positions with the Information Technology Association of America (now TechAmerica), National League of Cities, National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors, Maryland Municipal League, and City of Greenbelt, Maryland. Ms. Winsky is also the president and founder of Bay One Group, LLC, a consulting firm that assists clients with a variety of subject matters, including economic development, entrepreneurship, government relations and advocacy, technology transfer and commercialization, university collaborations and partnering, and small business start-ups. Ms. Winsky is a member of the Maryland Commission on Service and Volunteerism, a Governor Larry Hogan appointment. She is also a member of the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative Fund Authority and the Maryland Innovation Initiative Board of Directors; both are Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. appointments. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Economic Development Association and The Maryland School for the Blind, as well as the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee. She has served the Chesapeake Innovation Center, Maryland Association of CPAs, Maryland Business Incubation Association, Maryland Health Care Product Development Corporation, State Science and Technology Institute, UMBC Research Park Corporation, West County Chamber Government Contractor’s Guild, Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) and the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Winsky is a graduate of the University of Maryland and a graduate of the Leadership Maryland Class of 2005.
